A great band, I saw them Live in High Wycombe (UK) in 2000. Sadly more victims of record company greed. May their work live on, thanks in no small way to this excellent Fansite.

Hadn't thought about these for a long time, don't why they came back into my head after all this time but a long neglected pleasure, still have the first album and few bits and pieces and saw them back in their goth heyday. I do like the sound of the reworking of see emily play

With response to the last post. I saw Marty here in Futurum in Prague playing for The Church. He was truly unbelievable, technically superb, put on a very good show and in my opinion added another dimension to AAE. He came out after the gig for a chat and a few photos and signings after the gig. A really down to earth guy. If you get a chance watch this guy play and you would understand.

Quite impressed with Keepsakes album especially new songs and remixes.
Are there any future plans for AAE (Reagan / Bricheno)

I've just found your guestbook today and just wanted to say:-

I saw you live at the Brewhouse in Burton On Trent a few years ago and was totally blown away by the fantastic, melodic sound that you produced, so clear, so precise.

Anyway, I'm learning to play the guitar at the moment and am trying to learn Martha's Harbour. Not too difficult I thought but I'm getting there.

I didn't know you had split up, hope you are all still playing in your own ways and are living productive, musical lives. I'm off home from work now to listen to your tape in my car and sing my head off. Bye Bye . Love Kaye (The Ashby Rock Chick) xxxxxx

I want to comment on how terrible it is that the eves are no longer a band? I have become haunted to death by the spirit of Bono (U2) must this be meaning something yes it does it means that Juilanne Regan must approuch him and ask to do a duet with the wildman irish rock star yes I think thats a brilliant idea!

I recently got chatting to a friend of mine who is a very big aae fan and we were talking about gigs we had been to,and funnily enough,we both came to the same conclusion that the maddermarket theatre gig in norwich 2002 was easily the best one we had been to.it was fantastic hearing old tracks being given a new lease of life without the aid of electrics, technically speaking, and winning over the old fans of yore yet again.i am so glad that the band got back together and showed the young upstarts how its done.i have seen the band several times since that gig and i cant help but feel distinct happiness every time i remember julianne singing david bowies"life on mars",which i hasten to add is one of my all time favourite bowie songs.i do have an idea for another cover they could do by bowie,"ziggy stardust".How that would rock!thanks for the site mate, its one of the best ive seen!

All About Eve...............they rock.

From: shane smith
Date: Wed Jul 14 20:46:28 2004

as i write this i reminisce by listening to songs past and present, reminding myself of how brilliant aae are.the new recordings are superb, and it annoys me that if the single had been played on the radio it would have possibly put you all back where you belong,in the charts, playing bigger venues, and with a more wider fanbase.we need bands like the eves, the mission and the cure these days as it tends to show all the young upstarts who the real geniuses are! I agree with gareth in saying that the maddermarket gig in norwich goes down in history as one of the best acoustic i have ever seen.it was a pleasure seeing the divine miss regan in the flesh and with the voice of an angel to boot. i could go on,but i think i have said all i need to.we love all about eve and long may they reign!

16 years after first hearing the debut album, I still have a great fondness for All About Eve. At college, there were only perhaps myself and two or three others who had idea that All About Eve even existed - never mind how euphorically uplifting their music was. To me, AAE will always be a fresh band with great songs, and one which was hugely undervalued...

From: Gareth Lloyd
Date: Tue Jul 6 17:56:50 2004

Well, I bought the single (both copies!) and sent several wishes down wishing wells (sorry, saddo quote!) but gutted the single didn't get into the top forty. AAE are still the best band ever, even if the general population (and those damn radio stations!) wouldn't recognise good music if it nutted them. Carry on making the music, I'll still buy it. I've been to see them ten times now over the years, the last at Brighton Concorde this year and I swear, you get better with every time that I see you. (Except the one time at Norwich Maddermarket which has gone down in history as the best gig EVER!!) I hope you get the album up and running and the drummer gets better and that you finally get the success that you deserve.
Still calling your name (yeah I know! Sad!)

Just saw AAE at the Borderline on Friday and Saturday.
We were getting nostalgic about Ultraviolet at the Marquee (and the T&C) about a decade ago. It is now a Wetherspoons of course. The last time I was at the Borderline was for Frente! (anyone?). I have worked on a script for a film based on AAE music, on and off, for about ten years now. Are there any budding film-makers out there who are interested?

Hi, been a fan since 88/89 but never got to see all about eve live at that moment in time, when I was still a teenager that is! last few years I have seen them live acoustic and electric down in Sunny Southampton. Even though there were not the big crowds, they were still great gigs. The friends that joined me were quite suprised by the music, coming away from the gigs with a smile.... Thats what great music and a great band should be about!!

Great site mate. Superbly organised and informative.
I bought the first two AAE albums when they were first
released and thought they were brilliant and a total
breath of fresh on the music scene. Sadly I never listened
to them for a long time again until recently and I had
forgotten just how good they were. Out of curiosity I
did a web search to see if the band were still around
and to my delight I discoverd that they had reformed in 99
and were still performing and writing material.
So I ordered the Union Chapel CD and I am glad I did.
Julianne's unique vocal talent has gotten even better over
the years and she must rank as one of the finest female
singers that the UK has ever produced.
Anyway best wishes and keep up the great work.

Love AAE, saw them in May 2003 at Newcastle, just blew me away. Julianne does not seem to age and her voice is beter than ever. A bit annoyed at some in the crowd, demanding all old songs, I am desperate for new material. Cheers Gareth

Greetings from the USA!
I've been a fan since the late 80's when I first heard "Dream Now" on a late night college radio show. Soon after I picked up "Scarlet" on cassette, and it's still playing strong! I loved that record, but that was all I'd seen from them here in the US, until last week, while on vacation I found the first AAE in a record store in CD! I grabbed it quick, and it sounds just as great as Scarlet! So glad to have some "almost" new music from this great band!

Julianne has a fantastic voice and the rest of the band are superb, but i would never have even heard of them if it hadn't been for a friend who mentioned to me about All About Eve in the early 80's. In my opinion one of the worlds most unsung bands. Maybe in my next life they will achieve the multinational stardom they deserve. It's an excellent site-far more informative than the official one.Are you sure that FLN2 is released,I have'nt seen it in the shops and Candytree makes no mention of it?
My wife and I were lucky enough to see AAE, for the first time,in Beverly last year and loved the show-hopefully we'll get the chance again this year.My favourite album is the first one and I would love to hear 'In the Meadow' played live and electric.Keep up the good work.

Terrific web site ! I first heard AAE back in what must have been 87/88, loved them, but only ever managed to see them live once (at Reading Uni on the TBJ tour). I'll nail my colours to the mast and say I actually like UV as much as any of the other albums which seems to put me in the minority but there you go. Looking forward to seeing them again next month in Swindon after only a 10 year gap ! If anyone else is going to that one I'd be pleased to hear from you as I'll be going on my tod (but at least I've managed a seat at the front).

I read an article just now where Julianne was apologising for her outburst at the Garage, where she apparently lost the plot due solely to a few sad children who were out too late! Why the hell she feels any reason to explain anything to those idiots ,I,ll never know !Lets face it ,the ,she lives on a different planet to them! Julianne do NOT let a small minority get you down,Ultraviolet is cool ,Marty is brilliant, innovative guitarist who adds a whole lot of love to the songs,Andy IS the bones, the heart, the blood, the meat and you are the diamond in the coal-mine !!! Keep on thinking(free)shine on you crazy diamonds! Ace

Your site gave me my first glimpse of the band live for the first time since I fell in love with a copy of their first disc that was copied for me 10 years ago when I first entered college. I saw AAE in Wycombe last year and they were great. I never knew Julianne and the guys were so funny. Before that, I last saw them at the Marquee (now sadly gone, and a Wetherspoons to boot) and the T&C on the Ultraviolet tour, when I had just got into them. I have been working on ideas for a film script inspired by and included many AAE songs for years now, but have had no luck with producing it. I think it would be a great experience hearing AAE songs in the cinema, and would introduce them to a new audience. Unfortunately, I rarely meet anyone who knows about AAE. Does anyone out there also like Cocteau Twins, or even heard of Ruby Blue (which Rebecca Pidgeon, of Spanish Prisoner and Winslow Boy, used to be in)?

The only other band I ever fell in love with like AAE was Cocteau Twins. The sound of Julianne Regan was so unique, so pure, so sensual and emotional. I think that I stopped listening when 'utraviolet' came along, but I admire their courage to change. I stuck with the old sound and still love to pick up those CD's and listen to a few songs. I have always associated AAE with the Mission. It was music that sank to my soul and I kept it there forever.

Hiya Goony,

Long time since I last poped in. Glad to see you got some pictures of the new gigs. I went to the first one at the Astoria and DIDN'T KNOW AAE was playing (their first for years). I was mortified when Julianne asked me if I had known about the gig because I had to say NO! I must admit I WAS upset that GLG didn't play. Why not keep Crazy Head, GLG and have AAE headline (stuff the Mission!) <grin>

Anyway, if I get some more pictures YOU are the first port of call...

Best regards,

What a fantastic site! Keep up the good work.On the news front, I spoke to Marty (Wilson-Piper) a couple of weeks ago, and he said that they definitely want to do some live shows on their own, the only thing that's stopping them are their other band commitments (The Church/Del Amitri etc), So it seems likely that they will do some more, but don't hold your breath. Also Julianne fans might want to check out the new album by "This Burning Effigy", on which she sings on a few songs. It's sort of Nephilim meets late AAE type stuff and well worth buying (in my humble opinion!)Anyone going to the Borderline gig on the 17th of Jan, and fancies meeting up for a beer or two first-drop me a line.

Am I glad to find this site. Brilliant!! I've loved the Eves since I first heard them (Martha's Harbour) and the folowing cocert at Glasgow Barrowland. I never missed a concert or record after that.

Isn't it sad that we are not entertained by their beautiful sound today (my old recordings are getting worn out).

I know I'm not alone in wishing that they were still on the live circuit anymore.

Keep up this excellent site. I for one will definitely be a regular returner to hear from you and all the other Angels out there.

Looking forward to hearing from any Angels. Stay happy and keep listening to our gone but definitely not forgotten beloved Eves.

I can't believe I've found this page-'99's been a good year, but now it's a great one! I've been into the Eves sincetheir first album, and their lyrics and music have been acontinual source of inspiration, relaxation,'shadow chasing',and precious memories. I saw the band only the once,atNewcastle City Hall(in my scarlet t-shirt!),but it was anexperience I'll never forget.Dreams and emotions ripped intoreality that night! Let me save a flower,I won't let you fade away.......

I Yahoo-ed and got youwho all Love what I thought was just a dream. I'm so glad to have found this site. It has answered questions I've had ever since I put 'Scarlet and Other Stories' into my headphones for the first time, about five years ago. Ibought several copies of this 'reduced-priced' item from my favorite record seller and have loaned or given these tapes to many people in hopes they would find the beauty I had...I've been soooo lonely(and soooo tired of feeling sorry for these earless ones).Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!for being here on-line!Now if I can only find people in Indiana to tell about this site.

Oh Wow! This is so weird! I was looking at the T-shirts and I had at least one from every year!I fell in love with AAE when I was 14. I'm now 25 and living in America, so as you can imagine, haven't even mentioned AAE in quite a while now.I came accross this page by search engine. It's just so cool to see others keeping the faith. Oh for my lost, mis-spent youth, and those flowers in our hair!

I discovered the AAE since a few time. I like them very much. They are great, and remember my favourite group, that is the Cocteau Twins. For all of you who do not know the CT yet, I suggest you to listen to them: you will like them as well as the AAE.Greetings

All About Eve has always been a mystery to me. But their music just make me want to find out more about them. Your site is the best I've found. Keep up the excellent work. Even though AAE is gone, I still like their music like the very first time I heard them 10 years ago (Scarlet Album) in Singapore. Since then, I have introduced AAE to friends in Belgium, USA, HK, Australia and Singapore. They are still thanking me for that... So thank you for adding to my love for this group by your beautiful web site.

Great site. The first time I heard of aae was hearing them on Saturday Night Live. Were they introduced by Micheal Barrymore, can't remember. In the Meadow would accompany me to my Desert Island. I once played it so loud in the car I blew the radio. Happy Days

Hi,

I just surfed in. I haven't heard anything about the band for a couple of years and I was not too interested either because I didn't like ULTRAVIOLET at all. I missed Tim. I still do. Without him it is not the same anymore. What's up with him? The last thing I heard was his CNN-project. I wonder if anyone who reads this could contact me - I'd love it!Lots of greetings, Lea
